Wichita Promise is designed to increase Wichita’s skilled workforce by removing barriers that keep individuals from getting trained. It’s a scholarship program that pays tuition and fees for specific high-demand jobs, provides training, credentials, certifications and personal career coaching, PLUS a guaranteed job interview with one of WSU Tech’s industry partners.

Find below a list of eligible programs, scholarship details and application deadlines.

• Wichita Promise will cover the cost of tuition and fees, for eligible programs/classes.
• Wichita Promise scholarship is only available for the specified semester(s).
• Wichita Promise cannot be used in conjunction with any other institutional scholarship
• Participation is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who meet the eligibility requirements.

• Individuals interested in one of the eligible programs/classes
• High school or GED graduates
• Must be at least 16 years of age
• Not currently enrolled for the Fall 2024 semester
  • If a prior student at WATC/WSU Tech must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
• Must be able to maintain a 2.5 GPA during the program/class
• Must meet program/class entry requirements and be eligible to enroll for the Spring 2025 semester
• Must be a US Citizen or Eligible non-citizen according to the Department of Ed.
• Must complete all Federal Financial Aid requirements and sign the Award Offer before the funds are gone and before the start of classes
  • If otherwise considered a dependent student, cannot use parent refusal to complete Financial Aid
• Must meet the deadline to enroll and complete all financial aid prior to classes starting

• Students must apply for other identified scholarships for which they are eligible and exhaust those funds prior to being awarded the Wichita Promise Scholarship.

Aviation & Manufacturing

• Aviation Sheetmetal Assembly, Technical Certificate
• CNC Operator, Technical Certificate
• Composite Fabrication, Technical Certificate
• Process Mechanic (Paint), Technical Certificate

Healthcare

• Pre-Practical Nurse health core classes
• Pre-Registered Nurse health core classes
• Pre-Surgical Technology health core classes

*Eligible Wichita Promise pre-health programs include pre-requisite classes required for the Technical Certificate. CNA classes are not included. Contact WSU Tech for a list of classes or more details.

Education

• Para Educator

*This scholarship is only valid for the summer 2025 semester and the fall 2025 semester for the first 10 students to qualify

*Guaranteed job interviews for students selected to receive the Wichita Promise scholarship for health core classes will be offered upon completion of an AAS or TC in Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, or Surgical Technology. Please reach out to careerhelp@wsutech.edu for more information.
