Teachers love our professional learning!
You don’t have to be a software developer to teach computer science! This year-long Professional Learning Program is designed to support you throughout the academic year as you teach, engage, and empower your students to explore computer science.

– Learn and bring back engaging, age specific curriculum for your students.
– Get a jump start on implementing a computer science course for your school.
– Network with other computer science teachers in your area.
– Opportunity to partner with the largest technical college in the region, WSU Tech.

What are my professional learning options?
Our professional learning program is an intensive, highly supportive program designed to prepare educators to provide high-quality computer science instruction. This professional learning program consists of a five-day summer workshop, which will fully prepare educators to utilize Code.org curricula and teacher support systems. The program also includes four one-day virtual workshops during the school year when teachers will reconvene for ongoing training and just-in-time support.

Participation in the full year-long program includes teaching materials, workshop supplies, nine days of professional development, and meals during workshops.
If you have questions in the meantime, or would like to discuss PD opportunities for your teachers, school, or district, feel free to reach out via the contact information below.

The Computer Science Discoveries program (6th-10th grade) includes:
– Asynchronous pre-work
– 5 day Summer Workshop
– 4 full day Academic Year workshops

How much will it cost?
CS Discoveries workshops are offered at no cost to most teachers accepted into the program. We have a limited number of travel stipends available for teachers traveling greater distances from Wichita. Apply today!

What does the application process entail?
Applying is easy and only takes about 10 minutes! Once your application is complete, you can expect to hear from Code.org’s Kansas Regional Partner with your acceptance decision within 2-3 weeks. If you are accepted into the Professional Learning program, you are encouraged to register within two weeks to secure your spot.
