WICHITA, Kan. — October 29, 2025 — The WSU Tech Foundation hosted its annual Scholarship Luncheon on Wednesday, October 29, at WAVE in downtown Wichita, bringing together students, donors, and community partners to celebrate the power of philanthropy and education.

The luncheon honored the 170 students who received more than $270,000 in scholarships this fall through the WSU Tech Foundation, a milestone that reflects the generosity of individuals and organizations committed to helping students achieve their goals.

Throughout the event, attendees heard powerful stories of perseverance and gratitude from scholarship recipients representing diverse programs across WSU Tech. The program also highlighted several newly established scholarships, including the Crain Healthcare Scholarship, David Kahmann Memorial Scholarship, Hutton Scholarship, Midwest Drywall Scholarship, O’Reilly Auto Parts Scholarship, Robert N. Seiwert Memorial Scholarship, Scholfield Honda Scholarship, and the Wichita Area Builders Association Professional Women in Building Scholarship.

“The Scholarship Luncheon is one of the most meaningful days of our year,” said Courtney Sendall, Executive Director of the WSU Tech Foundation. “It’s a moment when our donors see the direct impact of their generosity and our students see how deeply their community believes in them. Together, we are building futures and changing lives, one scholarship at a time.”

The event also recognized the Foundation’s employee donors, with 28 WSU Tech employees giving at or above the $1,000 level to sponsor student scholarships. Several endowed funds were announced as making their first awards next year, including the AIWF-Wichita Culinary & Hospitality Futures Scholarship, Goebel Family Star Lumber Charitable Foundation Scholarship, Scotty McGaha Memorial Scholarship, and the WKI Kenworth Scholarship.

“This event embodies everything that makes WSU Tech special, our students’ determination, our donors’ generosity, and our community’s belief in the power of technical education,” said Utash. “When people come together with a shared purpose, the ripple effect transforms not just individual lives, but entire communities.”

The WSU Tech Foundation’s annual Scholarship Luncheon serves as a reminder of how partnership and philanthropy fuel opportunity, innovation, and workforce growth in the Wichita region.
