RoboticsĀ Program Features
The WSU Tech Robotics program provides graduates with industry aligned courses designed to prepare them for entry into the highly technical field of Industrial and Collaborative Robotics. The program is a joint effort between WSU Tech and Wichita State Universityās National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR).Ā All students will experience a core curriculum focused on the foundational skills of robotics including usage, programming, design for application and implementation of robotic equipment and automated equipment to support manufacturing automation in areas such as welding, advanced coatings, and material handling.
Working with industry recognized visual programming environments andĀ a state-of-the-artĀ robotics laboratory, students will applyĀ cutting edgeĀ robotics research and electronic and mechanical systems to support the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).Ā Students will gain the skills that support the design, build, implementation and data collection of IIoT using electronic sensors, small computer hardware and applications to collect, translate and deliver data to analytical business systems.Ā Students will learn to program Programable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), communicate between PLC’s and robots, set up HMI’s (human machine interface) to control and monitor the process, and even explore new advancements in Smart Factory environments such as machine learning and AI.

WSU Techās Robotics program is ARM Institute endorsed.Ā Ā The ARM Institute is the nationās leading collaborative in robotics and workforce innovation, working at the confluence of industry, government, and academia. Structured as a public-private partnership, the ARM Institute and its 300+ member organizations catalyze robotic technologies and education solutions to strengthen the U.S. industrial base and secure U.S. manufacturing resiliency. The institute is sponsored by the Department of Defense, and its diverse membership base includes start-ups, research universities, community colleges, manufacturers of all sizes, government agencies, workforce development organizations, and more.
The ARM Endorsement Program is a thorough process used to identify organizations that are the most effective at preparing students for careers in manufacturing working with robotics. The Endorsement program was conceptualized and created through the ARM Instituteās 300+-member national consortium, giving equal voice to the need of manufacturers, education providers, and government stakeholders. The program leverages the ARM Instituteās competency and skills framework that outlines the career options and skills needed for a manufacturing career working with robotics.
