Dec 6, 2018, at the 2018 Honorary Commander Assumption of Command Ceremony, WSU Tech President, Dr. Sheree Utash, was recognized as one of the new honorary commanders at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS. President Utash was among 13 other individuals who received this honor.
“I am extremely honored to be selected as an Honorary Commander. This will continue to strengthen the partnership between WSU Tech and the airmen and women of McConnell to provide educational opportunities during their time of service to our country. I look forward to being more involved with this gem of our city called McConnell Air Force Base.” said President Utash.
As stated in the program provided by McConnel Air Force Base “The Honorary Commander program dramatically increases our ability to spread the word to our host communities about McConnell’s mission. this enduring connection between military commanders and civic leaders strengthens the outstanding relationship we enjoy with our neighboring communities, Sedgwick County and the State for Kansas.
For our civilians, this program provides influential leaders in the metro area an up-close and personal opportunity to observe McConnell’s Airmen, leadership and mission. It also showcases our role in carrying out our national military strategy.
Throughout the tenure of every Honorary Commander, each individual will be invited to participate in squadron and base activities.
For our military members, the program provides a ringside seat to watch movers and shakers in the business community demonstrate leadership and management expertise.”
