Wichita, KS – The WSU Tech Foundation has announced a gift from Fidelity Bank in the amount of $100,000 to support the launch of the college’s new culinary arts program. Funds will be used to offset costs associated with program creation and curriculum development.

“Fidelity Bank has been a longtime partner and supporter of WSU Tech, and we are honored to accept this most recent gift,” said Dr. Sheree Utash, President of WSU Tech. “For years, Fidelity Bank has been encouraging us all to move ‘Bravely Onward’, and we’re confident that the launch of the new culinary arts program will equip students to advance their careers in a field that is in great need of well-trained talent. It is also our hope that the planned expansion of the program to a building in downtown Wichita will establish the area as a food experience destination, and we’re thrilled to have Fidelity Bank as a partner in this venture.”

Set to begin in August 2021, the culinary arts program at WSU Tech will offer degrees and certificates that will prepare individuals with little to no industry experience for entry-level and secondary food service positions with the potential for expedited promotion. The curriculum will cover a diverse menu of options, from artisanal breads and pastries to global cuisines classes.

“We admire WSU Tech’s relentless pursuit to address issues that enhance the vibrancy of our community and the success of their students,” said Aaron Bastian, President and CEO of Fidelity Bank. “This initiative will establish a culinary arts center for excellence in the heart of our city. We proudly support this advancement of our local food culture and the continued growth of Wichita.”

Students will be able to earn a Technical Certificate in as little as one year or an Associates of Applied Science in just two years, and enrollment is happening now.
