WSU Tech is proud to announce that over the past year, it has awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships through the Kansas Promise scholarship program. The scholarship was created by the Kansas Legislature to remove the financial barrier that keeps individuals from getting the education they need to fill high-wage, high-demand, and/or critical-need jobs in Kansas.

“We are very excited about this program and what it means for our students and their futures,” said WSU Tech President Dr. Sheree Utash. “The Kansas Promise scholarship, thanks to our state legislature provides a great opportunity for individuals to pursue their educational goals without having to worry about the financial burden of tuition costs.”

The scholarship may be used for up to a per-student lifetime total of 68 credit hours or $20,000, whichever occurs first, in one or more of the eligible programs. Over 30 programs at WSU Tech in Aviation, Advanced Manufacturing, Building Trades, Automotive, Design, IT, and Healthcare are eligible, and the majority can be completed fully paid by the scholarship.

“We are very grateful to the State of Kansas to have the chance to offer this incredible opportunity to our students,” said Justin Pfeifer, Vice President of Student Success at WSU Tech. “Our goal is for every student who wants an education at WSU Tech to have one without worrying about cost or other barriers.”

To be eligible for the Kansas Promise scholarship individuals must meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the Kansas Board of Regents. Among the requirements include they must be a Kansas resident, be below certain income levels, and have a high school diploma or GED. Individuals who accept the scholarship must also agree to complete their academic program within 36 months and live and work in the State of Kansas for two consecutive years following the successful completion of their program of study.
