WSU Tech opened a Military and Veteran Student Center at WSU Tech’s main campus, the National Center for Aviation Training (NCAT), on Friday, Nov. 6th. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at 2:00 p.m. in room S209. Veteran groups including the American Legion Post 136 Riders were in attendance.

Sheree Utash, Interim President of WSU Tech, stated, “WSU Tech has several students on campus with military experiences, and as a wife and mother of Military Veterans I feel strongly that the college can do more to serve their specific needs.”

The Military and Veteran Student Center will provide a dedicated space for active duty, veterans and military dependents to connect with other students with similar life experiences. The center will also provide resources to help students succeed academically and socially at WSU Tech. The centers will be equipped with soft seating, Wi-Fi, computers and literature stations. WSU Tech plans to open a second Military and Veteran Student Center the following week at their Southside Center.

Colonel (Ret) Randy Roebuck, a 27-year Air Force Veteran and Executive Director for Technology at WSU Tech, stated “I have a personal interest in helping military and veteran students since I received so much support from the Wichita Community while serving at McConnell AFB.”

WSU Tech is a Kansas Board of Regents institution and the state’s leader in modern technical education, offering 100 programs of study in areas such as, aviation, healthcare, manufacturing, design and business. WSU Tech serves as managing partner of the National Center for Aviation Training in Wichita. Additionally, NCAT is home to some operations of Wichita State University and its National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR).
