Utility Box Artist Call Graphic - WSU Tech

Wichita, KAN – WSU Tech has issued an open call for artists to submit their original designs to be painted on several electrical box covers throughout their main campus, the National Center for Aviation Training (4004 N. Webb Rd.). Designs should be aviation or manufacturing themed and are due Monday, October 28.

Boxes measure approximately 60″ x 33″ x 18″, and an artist stipend of $400 per box will be paid upon completion.

“I was first exposed to the idea of beautifying unsightly objects like utility box covers when I visited Boise, ID, last year and have since seen several other examples in our own community,” said WSU Tech President Sheree Utash. “Wichita has a vibrant art scene, and I’m thrilled to bring this concept to WSU Tech with designs that illustrate the aviation and manufacturing programs that are offered on this campus.”

Exterior latex paint in WSU Tech brand colors (white, black, yellow and gray) will be provided, and all other supplies necessary will be provided by the artists. Art submissions are due Monday, October 28, and artists should be available to install their design November 9-10.

Interested individuals are invited to learn more and to submit their original designs at wsutech.edu/campuscall.
