AN EARN & LEARN PROGRAM BETWEEN WSU TECH, WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY, AND NIAR WERX

Get TWERX is an earn & learn program that offers full-time, paid employment with NIAR WERX while progressing through WSU Tech’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program and simultaneously earning credits towards the Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree in Organizational Leadership and Learning at Wichita State University.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

  • Interested in the Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) program at WSU Tech
  • Able to meet the employment requirements for NIAR WERX job description
  • 18 years of age or older
  • High school or GED graduate
  • Permanent Resident or U.S. citizen
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment background check
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and submit to ongoing random testing as required by the FAA
  • New adult AMT student or former High School/JumpStart student
    • Former High School/JumpStart students must be in good standing
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Financial Aid (FAFSA) and complete all other financial aid requirements prior to the enrollment deadline
  • Meet program entry requirements and be enrolled in the Get To WERX program
  • Able to attend and progress through the program in the sequence required and commit to the entirety of the five-year program
  • Complete an entry interview with WSU and, if invited, a final interview with NIAR WERX

Get To WERX Earn & Learn program at WSU Tech

SEMESTER SCHEDULE

  • NIAR WERX:  10 hour shifts working three (3) designated days per week between the hours of 6am and 6pm
  • Complete admissions, enroll in, and attend scheduled WSU Tech AMT Classes
  • Complete admissions, enroll in, and complete WSU Applied Learning Courses

Individuals accepted into the Get To WERX program will alternate working at NIAR WERX and attending classes at WSU Tech and Applied Learning courses at Wichita State University.
