Climate & Energy Control (HVAC) Program Features

The Climate & Energy Control (HVAC) program is a sequence of courses that prepares students for careers in the air conditioning industry. Learning opportunities develop academic, occupational and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of air conditioning theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive the qualifications of an air conditioning technician.

The WSU Tech Climate and Energy Control (HVAC) program is aligned with the National Center for Education Statistics CIP code 47.0201: Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Maintenance Technology/Technician prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to repair, install, service and maintain the operating condition of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. Includes instruction in diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment and the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Students in this program are eligible to obtain credentials in OSHA 10, EPA 608, & HVAC Excellence – Air Conditioning, Gas Heat, & Electrical.
