General Education
Are you interested in a college education but do not know where to start? General education courses that lead to a general education degree are a great option for a broad scope of knowledge. You are able to study a wide variety of subjects such as communication arts, math, humanities, social sciences, sciences and liberal arts. The general education requirements vary but in most cases, a placement test or ACT test is required.
General Education Courses
There are several areas of study you will become familiar with while working to obtain a degree in general education. You will develop a basic knowledge of classical studies as well as study a selection of electives in the liberal arts, humanities and sciences. In most cases, you can also choose to have an area of concentration for a more focused subject.
Who offers general education courses?
Most secondary educational facilities will offer general education courses. Some of these courses may be transferred to a traditional four-year university. WSU Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and governed by the Kansas Board of Regents. Credits earned at WSU Tech can easily transfer to other two and four-year colleges like Butler Community College, Wichita State University, Friends University and many others. We keep our class sizes small and our tuition low. General education courses like Public Speaking, Biology, Algebra and more are just $116/credit hour at WSU Tech.
Get your associate degree with the help of WSU Tech and WSU
Shocker Pathway is a partnership between WSU Tech and Wichita State University (WSU) that provides an affordable, convenient and respected way to earn a two-year Associate of Arts (AA) degree from WSU. Shocker Pathway students will begin their studies at WSU Tech and earn up to 50 credits for transfer to WSU. Upon completion of an additional 15 credit hours at WSU, students will earn an AA degree from WSU. Students currently attending other institutions are encouraged to inquire at WSU Tech concerning a transfer into the Shocker Pathway at WSU Tech.
Get started earning your associate degree while you are attending high school
Through the JumpStart program, WSU Tech offers college options for high school students to take transferable general education courses and career and technical education classes during high school. WSU Tech’s college-level transfer classes fulfill core requirements for most college degrees. They are taught on site at high schools, at one of three WSU Tech campuses or entirely online. Special tuition rate of $80/credit hour for high school students taking general education courses helps families reduce the cost of a university degree.
