WSU Tech offers WSU Tech Foundation scholarships, program specific scholarships, along with institutional scholarships to make paying for college possible. WSU Tech is pleased to offer industry supported scholarships from companies like Airbus, Delta Dental, Grainger, Snap On Industries, Soroptimist, Spirit Aerosystems, and more. The state of Kansas currently has many scholarship opportunities for WSU Tech students including the Kansas Promise Scholarship, Kansas Vocational Scholarship, the Nursing Service Scholarship, and the Kansas Ethnic Minority Scholarship and more. KANSAS PROMISE

The Kansas Promise scholarship was created by the Kansas Legislature to remove the financial barrier that keeps individuals from getting the education they need to fill high-wage, high-demand, and/or critical-need jobs in Kansas. The scholarship may be used for up to a per student lifetime total of 68 credit hours or $20,000, whichever occurs first, in one or more of the eligible programs. Over 30 programs in Aviation, Advanced Manufacturing, Building Trades, Automotive, Design, IT, and Healthcare are eligible.

ONE WORKFORCE

The One Workforce scholarship is funded by Workforce Alliance, a government agency, whose mission is to get you a job. Through the scholarship they will provide up to $6,000 to go toward tuition and fees in eligible programs, supportive services and a guaranteed job interview at the end of the program. The One Workforce scholarship is limited and only available to select programs that are guaranteed a job interview by a local employer.

FUTURE YOU

NEW to WSU Tech is a first-time freshman scholarship called, Future You. WSU Tech Institutional Scholarships

NEW to WSU Tech is a first-time freshman scholarship called, Future You. This two-year scholarship is designed for graduating seniors who plan to attend WSU Tech this Fall. Recipients of the scholarship will receive $600 each year that will renew for up to two years to be used towards technical education or general education classes.
Requirements:

  • Applicants for the Future You scholarship must be a current year high school graduate.
  • The Future You scholarship is $600 per year ($300 per semester) that can be applied to tuition and fees for technical education AND general education courses for the Fall and Spring semesters. 
  • The Future You scholarship is automatically renewable for up to two years for students who are awarded and meet the scholarship criteria.
  • Students are required to be enrolled in a full-time (12 credit hours) schedule and begin classes in the Fall semester following graduation.
  • Students must submit an official high school transcript with graduation date listed and have a cumulative 2.75 GPA on their high school transcript.
  • No ACT/SAT scores or FAFSA application are required to receive the scholarship.
  • Students must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher and be in good standing while in the Future You scholarship program.
  • Textbooks and inclusive access fees are not covered and maybe an additional expense.
  • The Future You scholarship is stackable with other scholarships and is applied prior to any financial aid.
  • This promotion is redeemable only at WSU Tech, not Wichita State University or any other college or university.
  • The Future You scholarship application is only available for the Fall semester following graduation.
  • Participation is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis to those who meet the eligibility requirements.

  • Individuals interested in one of the eligible programs/classes
  • High school or GED graduates
  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Not currently enrolled for the current semester
  • If a prior student at WATC/WSU Tech, must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA during the program/class
  • Must meet program/class entry requirements and be eligible to enroll for the current semester
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen with a permanent resident card
  • Must complete all Federal Financial Aid requirements and sign the Award offer before the funds are gone
  • If otherwise considered a dependent student, cannot use parent refusal to complete Financial Aid

Over $200,000 of scholarships will be awarded during National CTE Signing Day events to students interested in pursuing a career and technical education at WSU Tech. If you are a high school senior and are interested in pursuing a degree in aviation, healthcare, manufacturing, design, IT, business, or criminal justice register NOW to be considered for a scholarship.
Requirements:

  • Be a graduating high school senior for the current school year.
  • Register for one of WSU Tech’s Signing Day events and receive a scholarship certificate.
  • Be one of the first 200 students to enroll in classes for the current year Fall semester, prior to June 1(1).
  • You must be enrolled full-time at WSU Tech for the current year Fall semester.(2)

*The Signing Day scholarship is non-transferable to any other institution, including Wichita State University. (1) 200 Signing Day scholarships are available. Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to those who complete the enrollment requirements. (2) The Scholarship may only be used on the tuition and fees of career and technical education courses at WSU Tech. This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships offered by WSU Tech, except for the Future You scholarship. Students must be enrolled full-time to receive the full scholarship amount. General education courses, required tools, books, and other supplies are not included and may be an additional cost. The Kansas Promise Scholarship Act provides service scholarships for students to attend Kansas community colleges and Kansas technical colleges in specific fields of study.

The Kansas Military Service Scholarship is available for the payment of tuition and fees at a public Kansas institution for students who are a resident of Kansas and has:

  • served in military service in international waters or on foreign soil in support of military operations for which the person received hostile fire pay for at least 90 days after September 11, 2001, or served less than such 90 days because of injuries during such military service;
  • has received an honorable discharge or under honorable conditions (general) discharge from military service or is still in military service; and
  • has provided copies of military discharge papers (DD-214 form) or active duty orders whichever such paper or order indicate the location of such person’s deployment and indicate the person has served after September 11, 2001, in any military operation for which the person received hostile fire pay.

The Kansas Nursing Service Scholarship requires an obligation to practice as an LPN or RN in Kansas and work for a sponsor.  A sponsor means any adult care home, psychiatric hospital, medical care facility, home health agency, local health department or any state agency, which employs LPNs or RNs, licensed by the State of Kansas.  The sponsor will provide partial scholarship funding and provide employment upon licensure of the recipient.  If the sponsor is a mental health center or treatment facility, the sponsor does not share the cost of the scholarship assistance.  The obligation for the scholarship is to work for the sponsor for one year for each year of the scholarship support received.

The scholarships from this foundation are for children of Marine and Navy Corpsmen who are pursuing a postsecondary education at any accredited school – whether that be a technical school, community college, or four-year university.  For specific questions, contact Steven Peterson, Chief Operating Officer & Director of Scholarships Programs at 571-384-2790 or via email: steven.peterson@mcsf.org.

Eligibility:

  • Students accepted to and attending a post-secondary trade school program with a semester beginning in 2024.
  • Open to citizens, permanent residents and resident aliens legally residing in the USA or Canada with a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s certified trade school in the United States or Canada.
  • Winner must enroll or already be enrolled in the upcoming semester.

The Wichita Manufacturers Association (WMA) has established a scholarship program to support and advance the growth of manufacturing in Kansas.  Under this program, qualified full and part-time students attending any university, community college or technical college in the state of Kansas are eligible for scholarship awards.  Application information is available from the WMA online at www.wichitamanufacturers.org

The purpose of the Women’s Independence Scholarship Program is to help survivors of intimate partner abuse obtain an education that will secure employment, personal independence and self-sufficiency. This is available for part time and full time students.

The application is completely online. There is no deadline, however it is recommended to submit application 2 months before the start date of the program. Scholarship amount ranges from $250-$2,000 per school term. Applicant must identify a nonprofit, domestic violence victim services provider willing to sponsor her for this program. Must have worked with the sponsor for at least 6 months.

Students can fill out a quick questionnaire that covers things like their contact information, schools of interest and potential majors. We use this information to match them to college scholarships for which they qualify.)

The Rotary Club of East Wichita Foundation has available a limited number of one-year scholarship grants for upcoming college freshmen to help in defraying the cost of tuition, books, fees or room and board at the Kansas educational institution attended by the scholarship recipient.  Scholarships of $1,000 each will be granted for the 2021-2022 school year. The scholarships will be payable in two installments – $500 at the beginning of the Fall 2021 semester and $500 at the beginning of the Spring 2022 semester.  Payment of the second installment will be contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the first semester in compliance with these qualifications.  Interested applicants can go to the following link to find more details and apply https://www.eastwichitarotary.org/

The Hortiago Alger Association Career and Technical Scholarship awards scholarships to students who wish to pursue a career or technical education at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States. All scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution on behalf of the recipient and can be used for tuition, fees, books, and supplies. Click here to apply. Eligibility for this scholarship include; you must have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential), be enrolled for Fall 2021, show a strong commitment to completing a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States, must have financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA), under the age of 30, and must be a United States citizen.

The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards is the signature project of Soroptimist International of the Americas. Soroptimist International of Wichita is one of nearly 1,300 clubs that make up Soroptimist International of the Americas, a volunteer organization for women committed to improving the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

  • The Soroptimist Live Your Dream Awards are cash awards given to motivated women who are the primary financial supporters of their families. The recipients of the awards seek to improve their lives by gaining additional skills, training or education, but do not have the resources to do so. These cash awards are meant to offset any costs associated with the recipient’s efforts to attain higher education, including tuition, books, supplies, child care or transportation costs.
  • Soroptimist International of Wichita has been able to award in excess of $1,000 to several recipients each year. The recipients then also have the chance to receive additional awards at District and Region levels of Soroptimist.
  • The most challenging aspect of this program is getting applications into the hands of eligible women.  If you are a female who strives to attain higher education in the hopes of better supporting yourself and your family, please apply for this scholarship.  You can also find the Soroptimist Live Your Dreams Award on Facebook.

The Career Technical Workforce Grant is available to students enrolled in an eligible career technical education program operated by a designated Kansas educational institution that has been identified as offering a technical certificate or associate of applied science degree program in a high cost, high demand, or critical industry field. Designated Kansas educational institutions include technical colleges, community colleges, and public four-year colleges that award associate of applied science degrees; and Washburn Institute of Technology. Only technical certificate and associate of applied science degree programs are included among the eligible programs. Preference in awarding goes to applicants with financial need.

Credit Union of America (CUA) offers annual scholarships to students pursuing higher education. Applicants must be these criteria:

  • Be a current CUA member (Membership is only $1, and CUA funds that first $1 in the account needed to establish membership.)
  • Be a high school senior or undergraduate student, age 24 or under
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

Application deadline for 2022-23 academic year is March 20, 2022.

The NAWIC Founders’ Scholarship Foundation (NFSF) assists in providing the construction industry with trained employees through higher education. The construction industry encompasses almost every professional discipline, including trades, project management, administrative, legal, financial, insurance, and business owner. Each year they award over $100,000 to worthy recipients in construction-related programs. Award amounts range from $500 to $2,500.

The AWS Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. It supports programs to ensure the growth and development of the welding industry through research and educational opportunities. Our industry depends upon education that prepares the next generation to meet the challenges ahead. Scholarships are available for students pursuing education in welding or welding-related programs trade/technical schools, community colleges and universities.
