HOW IT WORKS
The Caterpillar ThinkBIG program at WSU Tech spans two years and alternates between eight-week classroom sessions and paid, hands-on training at Foley Equipment, our local Caterpillar dealership. Students attend classes at the WSU Tech City Center campus in Wichita, KS, where they develop a strong foundation in mechanical and electrical systems, diagnostics, and safety practices. During the program, students gain real-world experience by working alongside seasoned professionals on cutting-edge Caterpillar equipment.
Students living outside the Wichita area are encouraged to participate, with some dealerships offering support for travel and lodging expenses during classroom sessions.
Upon successful completion, students earn an Associate of Applied Science degree in Heavy Equipment Technology and may secure a full-time position with their sponsoring dealer.
