Wichita, KS — Today, WSU Tech celebrated the grand reopening of its Automotive Center located at its City Center campus with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The $3 million renovation upgraded the 30,000-square-foot facility, increasing capacity for automotive and transportation programs. Walser Automotive Group and WKI Kenworth have made significant investments in the facility, and as part of their commitment to the next generation of automotive professionals, they have secured naming rights for the labs. WSU Tech was also granted 1.5 million dollars in operations funds by the State of Kansas and Kansas Board of Regents used to support the expenses related to the renovations. These partnerships mark a new era for WSU Tech and its students, providing hands-on learning opportunities and helping to build a robust talent pipeline for the transportation industry.

“At the Walser Foundation, we believe that every child deserves to thrive and every individual should have the opportunity to realize their fullest potential,” said Nancy Warner, Foundation Director, Walser Automotive Group. “By supporting access to education and career training, we help open doors to a brighter future. Our grants support organizations dedicated to strengthening education at all levels and building a skilled, thriving workforce for tomorrow. Recognizing the growing demand for skilled automotive professionals, Walser chose to partner with WSU Tech’s automotive program to foster hands-on learning and career readiness.”

The event also introduced WSU Tech’s new Mobile Equipment Technology Program, designed to prepare students to service and maintain a variety of diesel-powered mobile equipment. This program aims to equip students with the diagnostic and repair skills needed to excel in this fast-growing field.
