WSU Tech E-Sports

The official E-Sports program for WSU Tech, the premier two year and trade college in South Central Kansas and Northern Oklahoma. The program supports competitive teams that compete in the NJCAAE intercollegiate league in both the Fall and Spring semesters. The NJCAAE offers competition exclusively to two-year institutions in games such as Rocket League, Valorant, League of Legends, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty, and several fighting and sports titles.

The E-Sports Hub is located at the WSU Tech South Campus (3821 E. Harry Wichita, KS 67218).

Varsity E-Sports Benefits

Scholarship and stipend opportunities:

  • WSUTech offers scholarships up to $5,000 a year that cover tuition and fees only. E-Sports scholarships are awarded considering the student’s financial aid situation, preferred game, game skill, role, and team needs to name a few criteria. Scholarships are determined at the beginning of every fall semester.

  • WSUTech also offers cash stipends up to $1000 a year for a very select number of student athletes again looking at the same criteria as scholarships.

E-Sports Hub Access:

  • All WSUTech students have access to the E-Sports Hub from 10 am to 5 pm Monday through Thursday. All E-Sports team members enjoy extended access from 8 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday and 8 am to 5 pm on Fridays.

  • The Hub offers 12 state of the art gaming rigs capable of playing any of the latest games at a high level. The Hub features MSI gaming computers, headsets, mice, and keyboards, ViewSonic 240hz monitors, Corsair T1 gaming chairs, four console setups with Sony PS4’s and Nintendo Switch’s. The Hub also has two 65-inch TV’s and a connect PC to cast to them.

Competition:

  • WSUTech competes in the NJCAA E-Sports league. The league offers a wide range of games across three competition levels. No matter your skill level, you can find tough competition in the NJCAA E-Sports league.

Social networking and community:

  • The E-Sports program is an excellent way to meet fellow students with similar interests to your own.
  • There are numerous opportunities to participate in community events.
  • Volunteer in your community. Part of the E-Sports program is our athletes volunteer a few hours a year in our community in order to give back to those in need around us.

Volunteer Program

  • WSUTech offers volunteer opportunities for students to gain real world experience in such areas as streaming, casting, graphics design, video and content production, etc.
  • The goal of this program is to offer students another avenue to be a part of the E-Sports Program even if they can’t play games to a high level.
  • The program provides students with experience and training for future employment, feedback on their work, portfolio materials, and the to complete classroom projects in a real world setting if your instructors allow.
  • Volunteers are not paid. Nor are they employed by the university. You are freely donating your time to the program.
  • All materials, content, media, etc. created by volunteers is the property of WSUTech.
  • Volunteers are still bound by the WSUTech handbook, NJCAAE Broadcasting Standards, Twitch Guidelines, YouTube Guidelines, Kick Guidelines, and other restrictions as defined by the E-Sports Coordinator.
  • By applying to the Volunteer program, you agree to all the terms and conditions listed above in the volunteer program section.

Upcoming Events

We’ll host our Fall open tryouts on Monday, November 6th from 6pm to 8pm. This even is open to any current or potential WSUTech students and is for any gaming title offered by the NJCAAE. For a list of game titles, please visit National Junior College Athletic Association E-Sports.
