Law Enforcement Programs

Degree and Certificate options:

WSU Tech offers programs in Law Enforcement including: Criminal Justice and more in many degree and certificate options.

Associate of Applied Science (AAS): Typically a 2-Year Program
Technical Certificate (TC):  Typically a 1-Year Program
Certificate of Completion (COC): Usually completed in less than 1 semester

This program is uniquely designed to prepare students for a successful career in law enforcement with a special focus on urban policing, diversity and criminal justice in the 21st century.

The criminal justice field affords a multitude of career possibilities with graduates having the capability to serve as law enforcement officers, probation and parole officers, correctional officers, and other specialties at all levels of government.

CURRENT AND FORMER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS wanting to complete a for-credit program in criminal justice can get a head start with credit for prior learning or experience at WSU Tech .

WSU Tech only charges a $75 one-time fee for up to 15 hours of credit for prior learning (work experience, police academy training, etc.). Other schools with similar programs are charging up to full tuition for credited prior learning hours.

Police academy courses such as Introduction to Criminal Justice, Criminal Law, Law Enforcement Operations and Procedures and Criminal Procedures receive credit toward a criminal justice degree.

With a degree in criminal justice from WSU Tech, you’ll expand your knowledge and experience with courses in Criminal Justice Interview and Report Writing, Juvenile Delinquency and Justice, Criminal Investigation, Corrections and more.

Explore This Program

This is a 48 hour course designed to train Security Officers in basic duties and requirements as a security officer in compliance to the Wichita City Code. Upon successful completion of the Basic PSOT course, students will receive a certificate from WSU Tech and may apply for the permanent security permit issued by the training department of the Wichita Police department.

Temporary security permit from Wichita Police department is recommended.

Some students may have to test to determine which courses they’re prepared to take. Consult with your Academic Advisor to see if you are exempt from testing.

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by visiting FAFSA.ed.gov. Explore more scholarship options and ways to pay for college here.
