WICHITA, KAN – WSU Tech has been awarded a $50,000 Community Dental Health Grant from Delta Dental of Kansas. This grant will fund the purchase of new equipment and student scholarships for WSU Tech’s dental assistant program.

Rachael Wiebe, program director of the dental assistant program at WSU Tech, stated “I am so grateful for Delta Dental. It feels as though our dental assistant program has won the lottery, the dental lottery.  With the purchase of digital X-ray equipment and an extraoral training manikin, we will be able to give our students an updated education in dental radiology. This will result in our students being even more prepared for their clinical rotations and their careers after graduation.”

The majority of the grant will be used to purchase equipment for the dental radiology courses. The X-ray training manikin and digital X-ray sensors are new equipment to the dental assistant program at WSU Tech and will provide students with a more diverse experience taking x-rays in the digital world.
